Acarbose Arya 50, an inhibitor of intestinal alpha-glucosides, delays the digestion and absorption of starch and sucrose; it has a small but significant effect in lowering blood glucose. Acarbose Arya 50 is used for diabetes mellitus, type 2: Adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus.
Acarbose Arya 50 lowers postprandial blood glucose concentration in patients with diabetes by competitive, reversible inhibiton of pancreatic alpha-amylase and membrane- bound intestinal alpha-glucoside hydrolases.
